Jay Cormier is half of the game design duo known as the Bamboozle Brothers. With his partner Sen-Foong Lim they have designed Euro strategy games like Belfort, Akrotiri, and the upcoming Godfather: A New Don; party games like But Wait There’s More and Train of Thought; family games like Tortuga, This Town Ain’t Big Enough for the 2-4 of Us, and the upcoming Rock Paper Wizards and Pig Goes Moo; social deduction games like Orphan Black; and dexterity games like the upcoming Junk Art. Jay also teaches Game Theory at Vancouver Film School as part of their video game design program.
Darryl Boone is the owner of Pizzeria Ludica, a pizza restaurant in
Vancouver, BC with over 750 board and card games. When he’s at Ludica,
he recommends and teaches games to patrons, and extols the virtues of
casual boardgaming to anyone who can’t outrun him. He works toward a
future in which playing a game after a meal is as natural as eating
dessert. He holds in high regard strategy games with straightforward
rulesets that are easy to learn and teach.
Tim Huesken is a professional illustrator currently working in Vancouver for Smoking Gun Interactive. Tim was obsessed with Magic the Gathering throughout the nineties and found his true passion for gaming in 2001 when he discovered the Settlers of Catan. As it was for many, Catan was the gateway game that lead him deep into the Eurogame hobby. In 2012 I was hired by Martin Wallace to illustrate Moongha Invaders which was released by Treefrog Games and in 2014, Tim attended the Gathering of Friends where he play tested a variety of designs and gained some insight to how publishers and designers work together to develop games.
Alycia Fridkin is a board game enthusiast and aspiring designer who lives in Vancouver on the beautiful unceded territory of the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Waututh nations.
She is the founder and co-host of Vancouver’s West End Board Game Meetup, which meets bi-monthly at local downtown venues. Alycia’s dream is to one day combine her interests in social justice and health equity with her love of tabletop gaming.
